What do boundaries look like for yourself?

Are you confident enough to hold your ground on what you believe? Or to make a boundary for yourself and require others to respect it?

You may get discouraged when you realize that the skills that make relationships work are the skills you never learned, skills like:

  • Trusting

  • Identifying your needs or feelings

  • Asking for what you need

  • Seeing how you feel

  • Recognizing the boundaries between yourselves and others

You may look at this list, and then look at yourself, and then your partner, and think you don’t have a chance

Then you think again. And you remember there are skills you can learn.

You may have heard some wonderful and exciting stories from others about how they did it.

Maybe they could never express themselves in the beginning but then they practiced, and they were able to accomplish it.

Maybe we heard about people who did not know intimacy but leveled up to it but could not write a book on the subject.

Skills are learned. Learning takes time. Hang in there you can do it
